Coming Up Happy Inclusive Schools Week! What's happening?
AXIS Dance at Miraloma! Feast? That's right! It's time to mark your calendars for our annual evening of feasting and pre-winter holiday socializing, and of appreciating the cultural diversity of Miraloma's awesome, inclusive school community:

Help spread the word, so donors can take advantage of this great opportunity to double their donations! School Spirit Day - Friday Dec 16 Grand finale of the stache fundraiser! Everyone is encouraged to wear mustaches to school! Staff Holiday Gift Collection This year we will again be collecting money to thank the staff members who we don't normally get to thank. These folks interact with our kids every day just as the teachers do, and their support means a lot to our community. They are the librarian, the custodial staff, the lunchroom staff, the counselors, the adviser, the secretary, the coach etc. In all we have over 20 staff members to thank.If you would like to make a donation, please use the safe and secure online donation option. You can also write a check to Miraloma PTA and label it 'Staff Holiday Gift' and put it in the locked PTA mailbox in the main office. Thank you! Meryl Bennan - PTA President Ms. Kirman Named Symetra Hero in the Classroom Ms. Kirman has been selected as a Symetra Hero in the Classroom. This program honors 16 teachers across the Bay Area during the San Francisco 49ers season, and honors them for making a difference in the classroom.

Help Care for Our Chickens over the Break! Please sign up for a day or weekend in December/January. Weekend coverage begins Saturday AM and is finished with chores Sunday AM. The basics of chicken chores are letting the chickens out in the morning and putting them back into the house in the evening. Also, making sure that they have water, adequate food and a clean house/pen. Questions? Contact us at chickens@miralomasf.com Volunteer for School Tours!! You do not need to know everything about Miraloma or the admissions process in order to be a guide! Please signup and tell folks why you love Miraloma School and our wonderful community! Take Action! Chinese New Year Parade Miraloma has once again been invited to participate in the Chinese New Year parade with the Chung Ngai Dance Troupe. The parade, celebrating the Year of the Dragon, will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 5:30pm. If your child(ren) would like to participate, please read the information sheet and turn in this application by Dec 30. It might be early to think about an event in February, but I wanted to get the rehearsal dates out there for those who are interested in participating: Jan 8, 15, 29 and Feb 5 from 3-4pm. Carol Lei (Danielle 5th and Miraloma alum Nikki 6th) Miraloma Winter Food Drive The Miraloma Community Service Committee is holding our annual Food Drive. Please bring in some canned or boxed goods! There are large green barrels around the Miraloma hallways. They will be picked up on Wednesday, December 14th, by the SF Food Bank. [more info] Or donate directly at our Team page Miraloma Elementary School | Winter Food Drive and find updates and more information. Toy Drive - until Dec 16 Please bring unwrapped toys for ages 0-12 (biggest need is for girls 8-12), e.g. sports equipment, balls, art & crafts, age-appropriate board games, action figures or dolls. There is a bin near the main office. Toys will benefit the San Francisco Fire Fighters' Toy Drive and the ECS's Canon Barcus House, which provides long-term, stable housing for homeless families. Anything you can do will make a huge difference in the life of a child who otherwise will go without a toy this holiday season. Thanks, and happy holidays! Greg (Ryder - K2) Warm Coats Needed It's getting colder outside so check your closets for extra or outgrown coats, someone else will love them!The 3rd grade Brownie Troop (61600) is running a coat drive through "One Warm Coat" that will support an Agency called Threefold. Please bring your used ad coats to school and drop them into the big and decorated boxes provided at the top and bottom of each stairwell at the school.
