Back to School Night
Tuesday, Aug 31st from 6:30-7:30pm.
It is highly encouraged for all parents to attend Back to School Night. It is a chance for parents to visit the classroom and learn from their child's teacher about the structures in place, the expectations for behavior, homework, how to become involved in the classroom, and many other aspects about the details within the classroom program.
In addition, it is exciting opportunity to meet and socialize with other parents and to learn about the different field trips and events that are planned throughout the year.
Child care for current Miraloma students will be provided, although we encourage you to find alternate care for you child(ren) due to the challenges in providing an adequate number of staff to provide safe supervision for students based on the possible sheer numbers alone.
If you do need to utilize the site child care, please follow the procedures outlined below:
-
At 6:25pm (and not earlier, please), deliver your child to the appropriate space:
-
Kindergarteners and 1st graders will go to the kindergarten and 1st grade yard/playground;
-
2nd and 3rd graders will go to the upper yard/playground;
-
4th and 5th graders will go to the gymnasium.
-
Check in with the adult providing supervision to let them know who you are leaving. It will be an after school teacher from MEEP or YMCA
-
Return to pick up your child from the designated area before 7:30. Please do not be late.
If you are attending without child(ren), please report directly to your child's classroom. If you have more than one child in the school, please feel free to bounce between your classrooms, or send one parent to each of the classrooms if possible.
Please contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you. We look forward to having you join us!
Sincerely,
Ron Machado

'Fun Run' Save the Date
3rd Annual Miraloma Fun Run, a Fall Fundraiser and Community Event
Sunday October 17th, 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
@ Lowell High School Track
[Facebook Event]
The Run is styled like a walkathon where families, friends, and co-workers sponsor our students as they jog around a quarter mile track. The Run is much more than a fundraiser. It's a fun, family day too. The Run brings our school community together, so the kids and families can bond with their classmates and the greater Miraloma community. After the running, we gather at centerfield where the entire school shares a potluck picnic. The Run is a perfect day to meet new friends and reconnect with old friends.
Ways To Help:
-
Become an R3 (Run Room Representative). You disseminate information and encourage participation by your class. This can easily be done from home, via email.
-
Each family should sign up for a 30 minute or 1 hour shift the day of the Run. If we all work together, it’s not work at all.
-
Check outside of your class for the sign-up sheet posted at Back to School Night
-
Help Distribute Run T shirts to classes the week of October 11th
-
Calling all Camp Counselors or Cheerleaders; Perform a SKIT with us at morning circle on OCT 15th
-
Do you FB or Tweet? Help us market the RUN via facebook (share this event on FB) or twitter.
-
Nurture our future Maya Angelou’s or Robert Frost’s – help us promote the Run Writing Contest.
-
Help us find SPONSORS – recommend fitness related stores and classes who may want to get some serious marketing returns on investment.
Questions? Contact your RUN CO-CHAIRS:
Elena Lipkins @ 415/305-2050, or Suzanne Schwartz @ 415/793-8202
Room Parents Needed
A Room Parent (or two) is needed for each classroom. Please review the handbook for responsibilities and discuss with your teacher.
If you are interested or have questions, please contact Julie Wise.
New Tardy Pass Policy
This year, the teachers take roll at morning circle, instead of in the class room. If your child is not at morning circle, he/she needs to go straight to the office to enter his/her information into the computer and receive a tardy pass.
Introducing PE Coach Jeff
Hello my name is Jeff Jensen and I am an Elementary Physical Education Specialist for San Francisco Unified School District. I will be teaching physical education at Miraloma School this year.
The physical education program is funded in part by Proposition H, which was passed by the voters of San Francisco. Proposition H provides funding for all levels (K-12) for sports, physical education, art, libraries, and music. This is especially exciting for me because I am able to teach physical education here at Miraloma.
