 PTA Morning Meeting
The LAST PTA Meeting of the year is now a breakfast meeting at 8am Wednesday May 12th. We will have a roundtable about this year's events (our successes and, gasp, failures). It would be great if anyone wants to bring baked goodies - in fact if we want to appreciate the teachers that day we could leave some nibbles in the teacher's lounge with a nice card, sign or something...
 Spring Festival
Spring Festival is on Sunday, May 16. From 12-3ish we will play games, get manicures from 5th graders, eat more baked goods and dance to the tunes of our most talented Miraloma parent rockers... Please see sign up boards around the school and figure out where you can help.

 Early Release Day
In an effort to help reduce spending for next school year, we are piloting an Early Release Day on Thursday, May 20, 2010 (this month). School will be starting at the same time, but releasing at 11:20. This means that all students who normally get picked up at 1:50, will instead need to be gathered at 11:20.

The after school programs will be beginning earlier and ending at the same time. One great idea from a parent was that parents can plan together to arrange for students to have play dates with each other, allowing for one parent to take a group of students to a local park or playground until 1:50, or a predetermined time. Of course, if this shifting in schedule absolutely does not work for you for one reason or anther, please feel free to contact me so that we may work to accommodate you or your child.

Read more about the reasons for Early Release Day.

 MealPay Plus Important Reminder
This is an important reminder to parents and guardians. The Miraloma cafeteria is now using a prepayment program called MealpayPlus that will speed up lunch lines, eliminate the need for children to carry cash to school, and increase convenience for families. You may prepay for your students' school meals by the month, by the week or in the amount that you choose.

Register at www.mealpayplus.com and prepay by credit card, debit card or electronic check online or by phone. To register, just use your student's ID number, or H0 number, which is on report cards, address labels and other school material (or request it from the school office staff). Families may also pay by check or cash at school, or may choose to send checks by mail.

MealpayPlus will also allow families, including those who qualify for free meals, to view your students' history of purchases in the cafeterias.

Also, it's important that all families fill out a meal application - especially those who may qualify as low-income. If  you know you don't qualify as low-income, please fill in your child's name and school, write "not interested" anywhere on the form and sign it. Forms are available from the school office.

For more information on SFUSD school food, including weekly menus, go to the blog created by the school district's Student Nutrition and Physical Activity Committee.
