Introducing the Online Miraloma Newsletter To save paper and time, the Miraloma Communications Committee has been working on replacing the Violet Page by a weekly Miraloma newsletter. You are receiving this first edition because your class is part of our test group. In the next few weeks, the Violet Page will be phased out and the paer Wednesday envelope will only be sent to families without email access or when it includes paperwork that is not (yet) available online. Please help us improve the newsletter by sending feedback to newsletter@miralomasf.com First Fridays Scrip, logowear and more will be on sale outside of the cafeteria after drop off on November 6th. Can't make it this time? We'll be doing the same thing every first Friday of the month throughout the schoolyear. Chloe's Closet Donations Please bring your gently used children's (newborn-10), women's and maternity clothing to Chloe's Closet. They accept clean, hole-free clothing, shoes, toys, books, and videos (also gear like strollers, highchairs, etc., if space allows) everyday except Monday & Thursday. Our account is Miraloma PTA #1002 and we receive 40% of sales for our consigned items. For more info go to: www.chloescloset.com. Chloe's is located at 451A Cortland Ave. in Bernal Heights Donate Your Car to Help Miraloma Miraloma Elementary will receive 70% of all proceeds from donated cars. Car Donor still receives their full tax deduction. You can learn more about Cars 4 Causes at this link. Any person, in any state can donate cars, boats, etc. Grandparents, uncles, friends, US! Trick-or-Treat For UNICEF The Miraloma Community Service group is participating in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and your child can help make a difference in other children's lives. Next week your child will bring home a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF box that they can take with them when they go out to trick-or-treat for candy. All your child has to do is put on their costume, go trick-or-treating, but instead of saying, "trick-or-treat", say "trick-or-treat for UNICEF!". People will give them candy and a little bit of money for UNICEF. If you do not go trick-or-treating, you can still participate with your child. They can see if they have pennies in their piggy bank, or you can make a little donation as a family. By trick-or -treating for UNICEF, even if you only collect one penny, it can help a child. To learn more about UNICEF's programs, please visit www.unicefusa.org. If you are interested in how to get involved in Miraloma Community Service please contact Jennifer Howard or Laura Rodil. Brownies' Book Drive Our 1st and 3rd grade Brownie troop, #31678, will be holding a book drive for the classrooms and school. New and gently used books can be donated in designated boxes placed in the hallways through Monday morning, October 26. Any books not needed by the teachers or staff will be donated to other organizations. Fun Run Recap and Reminder Thank you to all of the kids, families, teachers and staff who participated in the RUN! We are still reviewing registration information and flat donations. 205 Miraloma students (not including siblings) participated in the 2009 RUN! It was a great day! RUN REMINDERS:
