Fun Run Potluck

Ready, Set, Potluck!

The RUN potluck picnic at center field is a fun way to wind down and enjoy friends after the running ends at 1:00pm! It's a popular community-building component of this event, complete with rockin' live music! Just think how many stayed for it despite the rain last year!
We know from past experience that kids (and adults) will be HUNGRY, so please use the guideline of bringing enough of your food item (refer to chart below for items by grade level) to feed 10-12 adults. And please refer to the 7 "Potluck Reminders" at the bottom to help ensure a smooth post-RUN party!
Below is a breakdown by your child(ren)'s grade level of foods to bring:

Grade: Potluck Food Item
K Main Dish (includes pasta dishes)
1st Main Dish (includes pasta dishes)
2nd Main Dish (includes pasta dishes)
3rd Breads (e.g. pizza, naan, pita & dips, crackers & cheese)
4th Fruit (individual sized portions)
5th Green salads (not pasta) or veggies
Note: In the past couple of years, we've eliminated "Dessert" as a potluck food item, however, once again this year, there will be a Fun RUN Bake Sale ! You can help support the 5th grade overnight trips by purchasing coffee, bagels, breakfast baked goods, cookies, and other goodies. The Bake Sale will begin during event set-up and continue until it is sold out. Bring your dollars!

Potluck Reminders

  • Feed your child(ren) a hearty breakfast and bring snacks to feed them during the day before the potluck begins. No grazing off the potluck tables!
  • Your potluck item should feed 10-12 adults and should be brought to the field ready to serve and not require any preparation. For example, breads should be sliced, fruit should be divided into individual sized portions (e.g. melons cut, grapes snipped into small bunches, etc.). Sorry, RUN potluck volunteers will have neither the manpower nor the utensils to prepare food.
  • Take your serving dishes and utensils home with you at the end of the event! LABEL everything you bring to ensure their return should they get misplaced during the event.

    IT'S EASY BEING GREEN:
  • Please bring reusable bottles of water for all members of your family. Water refills will be available at the potluck water table, as will cups as a back-up for those who may forget their own bottles. Note: to keep it simple, no other beverages will be provided as part of the potluck.
  • Compostable plates, napkins, back-up cups, and eating utensils will be provided by the RUN committee.
  • Don't forget to bring serving utensils for your item, as they will not be supplied, and are typically in high demand.
  • Wherever possible, please use reusable serving dishes, containers, and utensils from home for your item so that we can reduce the amount of garbage this year. (Plastic containers with food in them end up in the garbage.)
Note for families with more than one child at Miraloma: You may simply choose which of your children's grade levels' food items works best for you and bring more of that item. (Unless you're feeling ambitious and want to bring multiple food items!)
Please contact Christina Limberakis if you have any questions.
